Concealed Carry Classes
We make you get behind your gun in “Handgun 2”. The “Basic Pistol- Concealed Carry Course” class is just that, basic. It is a great primer and there is a lot of stuff to learn from it. The issue is the restrictions and constraints that we must work under. “Handgun 2” is an opportunity to work on gunfighting. We are going off the assumption that you have had some time since your “Basic Pistol” class to work on your marksmanship skills and carry your gun a bit. You will be working from the holster the entire class. That is reason to make sure you have a rig that works well for you. I prefer that you use your carry rig. It makes sense to train with your carry rig.
The course will consist of room clearing and home defense. Protection inside and outside the home. We will also cover drawing from the holster, drawing from different positions, weak hand draw and tactical loads. We will go from drawing from holsters to drawing and firing, shooting from cover, shooting while moving, and shooting at moving targets. Other things we will go over will be malfunction drills, where to shoot, and what different types of bullets will do. We will be setting up a soft air shoot house on location so you can have a chance to see what it is like and do a run through with me watching over your shoulder. We have a lot of liberty in what we can do and what we can train. For instance we will have a moving target that will move in any direction, a humanoid target that will fall after an undetermined number of rounds, and you will be able to see what happens to your walls when they are shot with some creative onsite ballistics testing.
The class consist of mostly range time. We will start at 8am and run to 6pm. The cost for the class is $125. I am going to suggest 300 rounds for the class. We will be out on the range for about 6 hours, but it is a structured range time. We will not be out there to just put holes in paper. Along with your gun and ammo, you will want at least 2 extra magazines, and a belt holster that covers the trigger. A mag holder isn’t a bad idea either. The more magazines you have for the gun the better off you will be. This is a tactics oriented class. That means to the best of your ability, I want you to run what you carry and how you carry. I don’t plan to tear anyone down, but I do want to push you and help to point out any weak areas that you may have. I want you to test your gear and really make sure it works for you. Lets try to see if we can make your stuff fail. Hopefully we can’t. This class will build off of the CCW class. We will be in the class room for 4 hours and the rest of the day is range time.
